Estudio geotécnico in Castellón

The province of Castellón, located in the south-eastern region of Spain, presents a variety of territorial characteristics that directly affect geotechnical studies. The area is mainly characterised by sedimentary soils in the comarcas of Alto Mijares and Plana Alta, composed of siltstones, clays and marls, which show low competence and potentially sustain instabilities in excavations and foundations.

In areas near the coast, such as the province’s coastline, sandy soils and overburden prevail, typical of fossil dunes and aeolian deposits, which requires special attention in stability and ground cohesion studies. The inland areas, in particular in the comarca of Els Ports, feature soils of a more rock–clayey nature, with limestone and dolomitic formations that affect the strength and bearing capacity of the subsoil.

Variations in topography, from the plains of the Plana de Castellón to the mountainous areas of the Sierra de Irta and the Parc Natural de la Tinença de Benifassà, influence the distribution of soil types and their behaviour. These geographical and territorial conditions must be carefully analysed in geotechnical studies in order to determine the feasibility of different types of structures and works in the region, taking into account the specific characteristics of each area.
