In Llucena/Lucena del Cid, the predominant geological substrate is composed of limestones, dolomites and marbles, representing more than two thirds of the materials observed. These lithologies are characterised by a high bearing capacity, which favours the adoption of direct foundations on rock in most projects. As a secondary feature, sandstones and conglomerates may occur which, together with the occasional presence of gypsum, anhydrite and salts, give rise to specific considerations related to stability or possible dissolution in salt soils. Given the high permeability of the ground, it is crucial to assess the hydrogeological behaviour when designing deep foundations.

Seismicity in the area is considered to be very low, with only 5 recorded events over 30 years and an estimated maximum magnitude of 2.1, so it does not represent a relevant structural constraint. However, the presence of carbonate substrates implies a marked karst development: it will be essential to check for cavities and assess stability before founding, as this is the main geotechnical risk in the region. There are no risks associated with expansive soils, since the substrate is not clayey.
