Estudio geotécnico in Albocàsser

In Albocàsser, carbonate materials predominate, such as limestones, dolomites and marbles, which account for more than 80% of the geological substrata and generally confer upon the ground a high load-bearing capacity. The secondary presence of sandstones and conglomerates introduces variability in mechanical behaviour, but in smaller proportions. In addition, the existence of extensive and highly permeable aquifers indicates that infiltration of groundwater may be significant, a point that is especially relevant for the stability of foundations and the project’s hydraulic management.

The seismicity recorded in Albocàsser is very low, with only 4 events over 30 years and a low maximum magnitude, so the seismic hazard is practically negligible in structural design. Nevertheless, the presence of a karstic environment in the carbonate ground requires verifying the existence of underground cavities before carrying out any foundation work, as they could jeopardise the safety of the structural support. The absence of clayey substrata rules out the risk of expansiveness, so control of the karst is the main geotechnical constraint in the area.
