Geotechnical study in Telde

In Telde, the subsoil is characterised mainly by the presence of granite, gneiss and other igneous rocks, representing close to half of the area, which confers an excellent natural bearing capacity and facilitates the execution of shallow or semi-deep foundations. Areas with outcrops of sandstone and conglomerates also provide good conditions for construction, although where there are occasional layers of fine sands and silts it is necessary to verify the compactness in order to avoid differential settlement. Although anthropogenic made ground is infrequent, it requires particular attention in geotechnical studies to determine its stability and suitability as a bearing stratum.

Seismicity in the municipality of Telde is very low, with only two recorded events over the last 30 years and a maximum magnitude of 2.5, so it does not represent a relevant constraint for structural design. No evidence of karst or problems associated with expansive soils is detected, and the predominant rock substrate is established as the main favourable factor for the viability and safety of foundation projects in the area.
