Types of ground in Palma

In Palma, deposits of fine sands and silts predominate, with a significant presence of carbonate formations such as limestones, dolomites and marbles, which directly influence the bearing capacity of the ground and the choice of the foundation model. Although there are occasional levels of gypsum, anhydrite and salts, which require special attention due to the potential risk of dissolution, the non-clayey substrate reduces the likelihood of problems associated with expansivity. The existence of aquifers, albeit with moderate permeability and yield, requires careful verification of the hydrogeological conditions during the geotechnical study.
