Types of ground in El Ejido
In El Ejido, the dominant subsoil is formed by granite, gneiss and other igneous rocks, present in practically exclusive form in the area. These materials provide excellent bearing capacity, which allows direct foundations to be designed in most cases, with low deformations and stability under high loads. The impermeability characteristics of these formations may lead to the local presence of shallow aquifers, which should be verified during the reconnaissance campaign, but without significantly affecting the overall support design.
Seismicity in El Ejido is very low, with scarcely any recorded events over 30 years and a maximum magnitude of 1.9, which does not pose any relevant constraint for structural design. Given the absence of clayey subsoils, there is also no risk of expansivity in the ground. Therefore, the main geotechnical constraint arises from checking the local groundwater table, with no risks from karstification or other active geological processes.
Granite, gneiss and igneous rocks
Igneous and metamorphic rocks with very high mechanical strength. They form the most competent and stable substrate. They predominate in the Sistema Central, in Galicia, and in outcrops of the Hercyni
