In Cañete la Real, the geological substrate is dominated by sandstones, conglomerates and flysch, which generally provides a competent, stable foundation for shallow foundations. The presence of carbonate formations implies the possibility of karst development; therefore, it is essential to verify the presence of cavities or dissolution processes before defining the foundation system. The risk of expansivity is ruled out since the substrate is non-clayey, allowing greater safety against volumetric ground deformation. In conclusion, karst investigation represents the main geotechnical constraint in the area before carrying out any foundation.
