Geotechnical study in Benahadux

In Benahadux, the most important geotechnical substrate is composed of limestones, dolomites and marbles, accounting for more than 63% of the surface area. These materials offer generally high bearing capacities and facilitate the execution of shallow (direct) foundations, although the abundance of fine sandstones and silts in certain areas may require additional checks due to their lower mechanical strength. The presence of aquifers associated with carbonate rock means that there may be localised areas of high permeability or dissolution, factors to be taken into account when determining the depth and type of the foundation.

Since the area is dominated by carbonate rocks, there is a possibility of karst development, which means it will be essential to investigate the presence of cavities or dissolution before carrying out any foundation. The subsoil is not clayey, ruling out risks from expansiveness; the main geotechnical constraint is the possible presence of karst.
