Estudio geotécnico in Province of Teruel

The province of Teruel, located in the north-east of Spain, has geographical diversity that influences its territorial characteristics and the types of soil present for geotechnical studies. The region is characterised by predominantly mountainous relief in the area of the Iberian Range, with peaks exceeding 2,000 metres in altitude, as in the Javalambre and Gúdar mountain ranges. In the northern and north-eastern areas, the soil is typically rocky-stratified in nature, with formations of limestone and marl, which show good structural resistance but a certain risk of landslides on steep slopes.

In the inland districts, such as Bajo Aragón and the Matarraña, clayey, silty and calcareous soils predominate, with a tendency towards compaction and moderate bearing capacity, which requires special attention in foundations. The plain of the Guadalope river depression has alluvial plain soils with good permeability and stability, suitable for lightweight structures, whereas the valleys of the Turia river in its final stretch contain sandy and silty sediments, with leaching potential and certain moderately high seismic risks.
