Geotechnical study in Piedralaves

In Piedralaves, the dominant geological substrate corresponds to granite and gneiss, occasionally accompanied by compact gravels and sands. These soils, of igneous and metamorphic nature, provide a stable foundation base, generally with a high bearing capacity. The low permeability typical of these formations supports stability, although shallow aquifers may develop in certain areas; this should be characterised during the geotechnical study to avoid surprises during construction.

Seismic activity in the area is moderate, with 32 events in the last 30 years and a maximum recorded magnitude of 2.8, so seismic risk does not represent a relevant concern in structural design. As no issues related to karst or the presence of expansive clays are found in the locality (ruled out by the non-clayey substrate), the main geotechnical constraint lies in the proper exploitation of sound rock as a support for the foundations, by correctly assessing the possible presence of surface water.
