Geotechnical study in Benimodo

In Benimodo, fine sands and silts predominate, representing more than half of the soils, followed by limestones, dolomites and marbles that cover a significant proportion of the subsurface. These materials show a variable bearing capacity: sands and silts usually exhibit medium to low compactness, which may require deeper or improved foundation solutions in areas of low density. Carbonate formations, by contrast, generally provide good strength for shallow foundations, provided that their condition is massive and not fissured.

Seismicity in Benimodo is very low, with just 5 events over 30 years and an Mmax of 2.2, so this factor does not affect structural design. Nevertheless, the possible presence of karst in the calcareous substrates makes it essential to verify the existence of cavities or dissolution before defining the foundation type, as these can compromise stability. The non-clayey substrate allows expansivity risks to be ruled out, with possible karst activity being the main conditioning factor for any foundation project in the area.
