Estudio geotécnico in Spain

Spain has a great geoterritorial diversity that directly influences geotechnical studies for any construction project. In the north, mountainous reliefs predominate, with clayey soils, slates and limestones, especially in the Cordillera Cantábrica and the Pyrenees, which requires special attention to the stability of slopes and possible landslides.

In the centre, the Meseta Central is made up of clayey and silty soils and some granitic areas, with generally flat topography but with possible problems related to expansivity and consolidation—key factors for safe foundations.

In coastal areas and valleys of large rivers such as the Ebro or the Guadalquivir, alluvial, sandy and clayey soils are common, which generally makes construction easier, although in some areas the groundwater levels and the risks of liquefaction must be studied.

In the south and east, especially in Andalucía and Comunidad Valenciana, there are calcareous and gypsum-bearing ground and sedimentary materials, which may present instability risks if their characteristics are not analysed.
