Geotechnical study in Sopuerta

In Sopuerta, the predominant subsoil is composed of sandstones, conglomerates and flysch, accompanied in smaller proportions by limestones, dolomites and marbles. These materials generally provide favourable geomechanical conditions for foundations, although their degree of compactness and fracturing may affect bearing capacity, particularly in the presence of flysch. The presence of fine sands and silts is scarce, and it usually does not constitute a significant drawback, whereas water bodies must be identified and avoided when designing foundation subsoils.

Seismicity in the area is considered to be very low, with only 2 recorded events over 30 years and a maximum magnitude of 1.9, which implies an insignificant influence on structural design. Since the subsoil is not clayey, the risk of expansiveness is ruled out, and the absence of karst manifestations removes problems related to cavities or subsidence.
