Types of ground in Santa Maria de Palautordera

In Santa Maria de Palautordera, compact gravel and sand formations predominate, accounting for close to 70% of the subsoil. These offer a high bearing capacity and favour the design of shallow foundations. To a lesser extent, sandstones, conglomerates and flysch are present, as well as the occasional occurrence of granite and other igneous rocks, which provide additional stability and help minimise differential settlement. The general ground impermeability characteristics limit infiltration and may allow the presence of shallow aquifers, although their influence on foundation works is usually secondary.
