Geotechnical study in El Papiol

In El Papiol, deposits of compacted gravels and sands predominate, accounting for most of the local geotechnical subsoil, followed by sandstones, conglomerates and flysch. The dense, granular nature of these soils provides a high bearing capacity, which makes it easier to select conventional, shallow foundation systems in most projects. The presence of fine sands and silts is more occasional and should be assessed on a case-by-case basis; however, in general, extensive and highly permeable aquifers provide good drainage conditions and reduce the risk of capillary rise.

As this is non-clayey subsoil, the issues associated with expansive soils are ruled out and there are no constraints related to karstic conditions.
