Geotechnical study in Daimús

In Daimús, fine sands and silts predominate as the most frequent soil types, accompanied in smaller proportions by the presence of white/soft expansive clays. These soils facilitate infiltration and show good drainage capacity due to the very permeable aquifers underlying the area, which may favour the choice of shallow foundation solutions except where there are high groundwater levels. However, the cohesion and compactness of the silts and the local behaviour of the clays must be analysed before determining the optimum bearing capacity for foundation design.

Seismic activity in Daimús is considered moderate, with 27 recorded events over 30 years and a maximum magnitude of 3.4, meaning it does not represent a priority constraint in structural design. The absence of karst and the predominantly non-clayey nature of the bedrock rule out risks associated with significant expansivity or dissolution processes. The main aspect to be controlled in the geotechnical study will be identifying areas with elevated groundwater levels and carrying out a detailed assessment of the compactness of the sandy and silty soils.
