Geotechnical study in Tui

In Tui, the predominant geotechnical substrate is composed of sandstones, conglomerates and flysch, with a very relevant frequency, followed by shales and schists. These lithologies typically provide a good bearing capacity for shallow foundations, although the local presence of fine sands and silts requires caution in the analysis of differential settlement. The compact nature of the main materials favours both stability and uniformity in load distribution: compact gravels and sands are generally suitable for direct foundation, whereas the masses of water and fine soils must be assessed to avoid risks of subsidence and to ensure ground strength.

Seismicity in Tui is very low, with only 4 events in the last 30 years and a maximum recorded magnitude of 3.2, so seismic risk is practically negligible in the usual structural design projects. In addition, the non-clayey substrate rules out the possibility of problems arising from ground expansiveness.
