Geotechnical study in Talayuela

In Talayuela, the subsurface is made up mainly of granite, gneiss and other igneous rocks, which provides a rigid and stable foundation for footings. These dominant rock formations ensure excellent bearing capacity, minimising settlement and providing favourable conditions for shallow or direct foundation methods. In addition, the secondary presence of sandstone, conglomerates and flysch, together with compact gravels and sands in smaller proportions, promotes an even distribution of loads, although the natural compaction of the latter should be verified for optimal construction procedures.

The area shows notable seismicity, with 56 events over the last 30 years, although of low magnitude (Mmax 3.1), so the seismic risk, while not critical, deserves at least minimal consideration in structural calculations. Since the underlying strata are not clayey, the risk of expansiveness in foundation terms is ruled out. Therefore, the main geotechnical consideration in Talayuela is the quality and continuity of the rock materials, which favourably condition the most common foundation solutions.
