Types of ground in Siero
In the municipality of Siero, geological formations composed of limestones, dolomites and marbles predominate, in occasional proportions, together with sandstones, conglomerates, flysch and, to a lesser extent, fine sands and silts. These materials usually present adequate bearing capacity for foundations, although the local presence of finer-grained soils may require specific precautions. In addition, the low permeability of the strata indicates limited water drainage, which could condition the choice of foundation systems in areas with shallow aquifers.
Seismicity in Siero is very low, with only 7 recorded events in the last 30 years and a low maximum magnitude, so it does not represent a specific concern for structural design. As it is not an clayey substrate, the risk of expansive soils is ruled out. However, the existence of carbonate materials makes it necessary to verify the presence of karstic phenomena before deciding the embedment depth and type of foundation, since the appearance of cavities could affect the safety and durability of the structure.

Fine sands and silts
Fine to very fine granular soils with medium to loose compacity. Typical of floodplains and coastlines. Although they can support light buildings, they are treacherous soils linked to water processes:
