Geotechnical study in Legorreta

In Legorreta, the dominant geological substrate is formed mainly by limestones, dolomites and marbles, which indicates the presence of rocky ground with high stiffness and excellent bearing capacity. Layers of sandstones, conglomerates and flysch are found only in occasional proportions, while horizons of fine sands and silts are very rare. These rocky materials usually allow direct foundations, provided that stable elevations are identified and there are no signs of alteration; permeability is low, although small shallow aquifers may exist, which should be checked during the geotechnical study phase to avoid seepage.

Seismic activity in the municipality of Legorreta is very low, according to historical records (4 events over 30 years and maximum magnitude of 2.4), so seismicity does not represent a relevant constraint in structural design. There is also no evidence of karstic phenomena or expansivity risk, since the non-clayey substrate rules out the presence of expansive clays. Thus, the main technical constraint for geotechnical studies in Legorreta will be to confirm the homogeneity and integrity of the rocky materials in the settlement area.
