Geotechnical study in Jerte

In the municipality of Jerte, granite, gneiss and other igneous rocks predominate, which determines a substrate with high competence and excellent bearing capacity for building. Since these materials have a mostly massive structure and very low permeability, they provide favourable conditions for shallow foundations, avoiding problems of instability or differential settlement. The body of water identified as an occasional feature should be considered only in locations close to watercourses or areas of near-surface saturation.

Seismicity in Jerte falls within a notable range, with 56 recorded events over the last 30 years, although the maximum magnitude is low (Mmax 3.1), so it does not constitute a significant limiting factor in routine structural design. The absence of clayey strata rules out expansivity risks, and there are also no records of karstic media that would require additional verification. The main geotechnical constraint is the need to adapt the foundation methodology to the high density and low permeability of the predominant igneous formations.
