Types of ground in Alcaraz
In Alcaraz, formations of gypsum, anhydrite and salts predominate; they make up more than half of the geological substrate and exhibit very low permeability. This type of ground implies special caution regarding the risk of dissolution, as subsidence processes or differential movements may develop in the foundations. The occasional presence of limestones, dolomites and marbles adds the possibility of karst structures, while compact sands and gravels are infrequent but, if encountered, they can provide favourable bearing levels for construction.

The non-clayey substrate rules out problems related to expansive soils.
