In the municipality of Quero, solid substrates such as limestones, dolomites and marbles predominate, accompanied by significant proportions of shales and schists. Seismicity in Quero is high, with more than 150 events over 30 years and an estimated maximum magnitude of 5.1, which requires a detailed assessment of seismic actions in the structural design phase. Although the non-clayey substrate rules out the risk of expansivity, the presence of lithologies susceptible to karst processes means that the presence of cavities must be verified before founding. Primarily, seismicity together with the karst potential constitute the fundamental constraints for the geotechnical study in this locality.
