Estudio geotécnico in Villa del Prado

In Villa del Prado, schist and slate substrates predominate, together with significant outcrops of granite, gneiss and other igneous rocks, forming soils of high consistency and favourable bearing capacity for shallow and deep foundations. Sandstones and conglomeratic formations are found only occasionally, whereas the presence of loose soils such as compact gravels and sands is very limited. The generally low-permeability nature of these materials provides advantages for stability and the control of groundwater, which facilitates the execution of safe supports and minimises the risk of differential settlement.

The area shows very low seismicity, with only 5 events over 30 years and a low maximum magnitude, so it does not represent a significant limitation for structural design. There are also no indications of karstification processes or dissolution risks associated with gypsum or salts. With a non-clayey substrate at the base, the risk of expansivity is ruled out, allowing the geotechnical study to focus on ensuring correct adaptation of the foundation to the high degree of potential fracturing of the slates and schists, which constitutes the most relevant constraint of the site.
