Estudio geotécnico in Vilardevós

In Vilardevós, a substratum of slates and schists predominates, representing close to 82% of the soils in the municipality. These materials, with low permeability and moderate mechanical strength, allow conventional shallow foundations provided that their degree of alteration and fracturing is verified. To a lesser extent, sandstones and conglomerates occur; these may show variability in their bearing capacity, but in general they are suitable for foundation purposes, except in specific areas of more altered flysch.

Seismic activity in Vilardevós is moderate, with 23 recorded events in the last 30 years and a low maximum magnitude (Mmax 2.2), so the seismic influence on structural design is limited. There are no signs of karst development, nor is there any risk associated with expansive clays, since the dominant substratum is not clayey. The main geotechnical constraint in the area will be the homogeneity and state of alteration of the slates and schists—points to be checked in the geotechnical study prior to foundation works.
