Types of ground in Venturada

In Venturada, geotechnical studies usually find as the dominant substrate shales and schists, followed by sandstones and conglomerates, with occasional occurrences of limestones and igneous rocks. As regards stability, seismicity in Venturada is very low, with a single relevant event and a low maximum magnitude, which minimises the seismic impact on structural design. However, the possible presence of karst in the substrate makes it necessary to verify the existence of caverns and voids before proceeding with the foundations, as they can seriously affect ground stability. The non-clayey substrate rules out significant risks of expansivity. The main geotechnical constraint in the area is the verification and characterisation of karstic phenomena and the possible presence of soluble gypsum-bearing materials in the soils.
