Types of ground in Vélez-Blanco
In Vélez-Blanco, the predominant geological substratum is composed of limestones, dolomites and marbles, characterised by high competence and good bearing capacity, which favours direct foundation solutions on sound rock. Areas with fine sands, silts and, to a lesser degree, slates, schists and hard soils of overconsolidated clays and marls are also present; these can reduce bearing capacity and require specific treatments in the geotechnical study to ensure stability, especially in the presence of shallow groundwater levels in localised areas.
