In Torres de Berrellén, soils formed by limestones, dolomites and marbles predominate, accompanied by a significant proportion of gypsum, anhydrite and salts, as well as fine sands, silts and, to a lesser extent, compacted gravels. This bedrock substrate provides good bearing capacity in most areas, allowing the execution of shallow foundations in numerous situations. However, areas with gypsum present a risk of dissolution, which may affect the long-term stability of structures; therefore, it is necessary to carry out a detailed geotechnical study in order to define the optimal support level and to design the foundations appropriately.

Seismicity in the municipality is very low, with only two registered events over thirty years and a low maximum magnitude, so it is not considered a relevant constraint in structural design. The presence of karstification in the carbonate and gypsum-bearing materials implies the need to thoroughly verify the existence of cavities and the integrity of the ground before carrying out any foundation work, as this factor can be decisive for the safety and durability of buildings. The non-clayey substrate rules out expansion-related risks in the ground; therefore, controlling the karst phenomenon and the possible dissolution of gypsum constitute the main geotechnical constraints in this area.
