In Torà, the ground is characterised mainly by the presence of sandstones, conglomerates and flysch, which cover the vast majority of the surface, whereas compact gravels and sands appear only occasionally. These lithologies usually display good bearing capacity, which favours conventional options for shallow foundations, although the low permeability of most of these formations may influence the behaviour under infiltration and drainage, and must be appropriately considered in building or infrastructure projects.

Seismicity in the municipality is very low, with only 3 recorded events in the last 30 years and a maximum magnitude of 2.5, so it does not constitute a relevant constraint for structural design. However, the possible existence of karst must be carefully assessed before carrying out any foundation, as it could affect stability and require further specific studies. Since the bedrock is not clayey, the risk of expansiveness is ruled out, making control of karst the main aspect to be checked in the geotechnical study.
