In the municipality of Teo, the predominant geological substrate is formed by sandstones, conglomerates and flysch, representing more than 78% of the soils, whereas slate and schist appear occasionally. These lithologies, generally compact and of low permeability, provide a competent foundation for shallow or semi-deep foundations. The minor presence of fine sands and silts suggests that, at certain points, it will be necessary to assess the local bearing capacity; however, in most cases the foundation does not present any significant restrictive conditions.

Teo has moderate seismicity, with 14 events recorded over 30 years and a maximum magnitude of 1.7, so the seismic hazard is low and does not represent a significant factor for the design of new structures. The analysis indicates a non-clayey substrate, which rules out risks of expansivity. The fundamental constraint will therefore be the detailed characterisation of the local lithological heterogeneity, without any exceptional difficulties being anticipated in relation to other geotechnical risks.
