Types of ground in Taps
In the municipality of Toques, a substrate consisting of sandstones, conglomerates and flysch predominates, together with a significant presence of slates and schists. These lithologies provide soils of consolidated composition and generally of low permeability, with occasional outcrops of granite and gneiss. In terms of bearing capacity, these materials usually offer good conditions for shallow foundation, although it will be necessary to evaluate in detail the uniformity and the degree of alteration in situ in order to establish the optimum solution.
The seismic activity recorded in Toques is very low, with only a single event of maximum magnitude 2.7 in the last three decades, which minimises the influence of seismicity in structural design. The absence of clayey ground and substrates, classified as “non-clayey substrate”, rules out the possibility of risks associated with expansivity. The main geotechnical constraint in the area is related to lithological variability, highlighting the importance of accurate local characterisation prior to the start of the works.
