In Siruela, the dominant substrate is made up fundamentally of slates and schists, which represent almost 75% of the geological setting. This type of material is characterised by high competence and low deformability, which is usually reflected in a generally high bearing capacity and predictable behaviour under foundations. Clays and hard marls, as well as deposits of gravels and sands, occur in small proportions and rarely affect the selection of the foundation type, although they must be identified and mapped during the geotechnical study to avoid structural surprises.

Seismic activity in the area is very limited, with only 2 events over 30 years and a maximum magnitude of 1.9, placing Siruela in a context of low seismic risk that does not condition the structural design of buildings. No karst development is detected, nor the presence of highly expansive materials, since the non-clayey substrate rules out that type of risk. Therefore, the main constraint in foundation planning lies in the appropriate characterisation of the slates and schists, which allow conventional and safe solutions.
