Estudio geotécnico in San Andrés and Sauces

In San Andrés y Sauces, formations of sandstones, conglomerates and flysch predominate, which gives rise to sedimentary soils of medium to coarse grain with a generally favourable bearing capacity. These materials allow for the usual shallow, direct foundations and offer good mechanical behaviour for construction, especially given the moderate permeability of the underlying aquifers. Although igneous rocks are uncommon, they may require a more specific study if they occur within the intervention area.

The area shows very low seismicity, with just one event in 30 years and a low maximum magnitude, which does not represent a relevant constraint in structural design. As there are no signs of karst or risks associated with expansive soils, the main constraint in local geotechnical studies is to ensure an adequate characterisation of the dominant sedimentary layers in order to correctly define the foundation depth and type.
