In the municipality of Salt, soils formed by compacted gravels and sands predominate, which represents approximately 75% of the surface and constitutes a competent substrate for shallow foundations. The presence of fine sands and silts, although in the minority, is relevant for considering foundation solutions adapted to where these materials are more frequent. The high compactness of the gravels and sands promotes good bearing capacity, generally allowing direct foundations; however, the low permeability of some formations may require attention regarding the possible presence of groundwater at depth.

The seismicity in Salt is very low, with only 2 low-magnitude events recorded over a period of 30 years, which significantly limits the need for special measures against seismic movements in structural design. Since the dominant substrate is not clayey, the existence of risks associated with soil expansivity is ruled out. There are also no karstification phenomena in the area, so the main constraint for the geotechnical study focuses on the local variability of the sandy and silty formations, particularly in terms of their compactness and the water table level.
