The municipality of Sada has a geological substrate in which sandstones, conglomerates and flysch predominate, with a significant proportion of fine sands and silts. These soil types are characterised by offering a good bearing capacity, which often allows conventional shallow foundations. The occasional presence of gravels and compact sands locally improves conditions, whereas the occasional development of limestones, dolomites and marbles usually does not affect the overall behaviour of the ground, although it is important to carry out a point-specific characterisation on plots where these materials are present.

Seismicity in Sada can be regarded as moderate due to the record of 20 events over the last 30 years, although the maximum magnitude observed is low (Mmax 1.8), which limits the influence of this factor on structural design. No signs of karstification phenomena or risks associated with expansiveness have been identified, since the non-clayey substrate rules out this type of problem. Therefore, the most relevant factor in Sada will be the local lithological variability and the high permeability of the soil, which can influence the foundation’s hydraulic behaviour.
