In Redován, soils of fine sands and silts predominate, representing 94.85% of the materials present, whereas formations of limestones, dolomites and marbles are uncommon. These substrata, generally of low permeability, may host shallow aquifers, which requires assessing the presence of water during the geotechnical campaign and considering the possible effect on bearing capacity and the behaviour of the foundation.

Seismic activity in the area is very low, with only one event in 30 years and an estimated maximum magnitude of 1.5, which minimises the need for special measures against earthquakes. However, the potential presence of karstification in carbonate formations, although infrequent, makes it necessary to thoroughly verify the stability and continuity of the substratum before proceeding with the foundation; this is the main geotechnical constraint in the municipality. The non-clayey nature of the materials rules out the risk of expansivity in the soils of Redován.
