In Rafelguaraf, granular soils predominate, such as compacted gravels and sands, together with appreciable outcrops of carbonate formations (limestones, dolomites and marbles), which provide favourable conditions for shallow foundations due to their good bearing capacity and low compressibility index. There are also smaller areas with fine sands, silts and overconsolidated clays; however, the prevalence of competent materials allows, for the most part of the municipality, the execution of shallow foundations, except in specific areas where the soil type justifies particular solutions.

The seismicity recorded in the area is very low, with only 6 events over the last 30 years and a maximum magnitude of 2.6, so it does not represent a relevant constraint in the usual structural design. The dominant non-clayey substrate rules out any risk due to expansiveness. However, the eventual presence of karst processes linked to the carbonate materials makes it essential to verify the existence of cavities or dissolution prior to foundation work, as these phenomena may compromise the stability of structures in certain sectors.
