Types of ground in Puerto de la Cruz
In Puerto de la Cruz, sandstone, conglomerates and flysch predominate, comprising more than 94% of the substrate, providing soils that are mostly granular and of competent behaviour. These lithologies generally make it possible to achieve a good bearing capacity, allowing the design of conventional shallow foundations. The presence of permeable formations and perched aquifers implies that the groundwater table level must be analysed in detail during the geotechnical study stage, as it could influence the type and depth of the recommended foundation.
