Types of ground in Ponteceso

In the municipality of Ponteceso, the predominant geological substrate is made up of slates and schists, reaching more than 70% presence, accompanied to a lesser extent by sandstones, conglomerates and flysch. These formations provide a generally competent foundation base for footings, where low permeability usually helps to minimise the risks of differential settlements, although it can lead to the presence of localised shallow aquifers. The subsoil lacks clayey character, thereby ruling out the risk of expansivity. Furthermore, the absence of karst processes reduces the likelihood of sinkholes or dissolution processes associated with them. The main aspect to control in Ponteceso is the impermeability of the substrate, which may condition drainage and surface runoff during the construction phase.
