In Peraleda de la Mata, soils formed by sandstones, conglomerates and flysch predominate, implying a medium- to coarse-grained matrix with adequate strength and compactness, which are favourable for shallow foundations provided that compaction and homogeneity are verified on site. In addition, small proportions of granite and calcareous formations are found; all of these rocks have good bearing capacity, whereas the presence of water masses, although occasional, may affect the groundwater level and should be taken into account in projects near wet areas.

The area exhibits notable seismicity, with 56 recorded events over the last three decades, although the maximum magnitude value is low (Mmax 3.1), so seismic risk does not constitute a factor that structurally conditions design. The absence of karstification and the non-clayey nature of the substrate rule out risks of expansivity and subsidence, consolidating the mechanical quality of the ground as the main factor to be assessed for the geotechnical study in the locality.
