In Pedreguer, limestones, dolomites and marbles predominate, accompanied in second place by compact gravels and sands, which provides a subsoil with good bearing capacity for foundations. Nevertheless, the presence of carbonate materials conditions the possibility of karst processes developing, and the presence of cavities must be thoroughly checked before undertaking any foundation work. As the subsoil is free of expansive clays, there is no risk associated with instability due to this phenomenon, and the assessment of karst is the main geotechnical factor to control.
