Types of ground in Palma de Gandía
In Palma de Gandía, the geological substrate is dominated by limestones, dolomites and marbles, accompanied by significant proportions of fine sands and silts. These materials generally provide a good bearing capacity for construction, although the local presence of gypsum, anhydrite and salts introduces risks associated with dissolution in contact with water, an aspect that is critical for foundation design. Given the low occurrence of clays and hard marls, the problem of differential settlements due to soft soils is limited, and the low permeability of the materials restricts the circulation of groundwater, except in small shallow aquifers.
