Types of ground in Oímbra
In the municipality of Oímbra, substrata of sandstones, conglomerates and flysch predominate, together accounting for close to 75% of the soils present. These materials usually exhibit good bearing capacity, although the flysch may show local variability due to the alternation of layers. Fine sands and silts, as well as areas with slates and schists, occur occasionally and may reduce stability if they are encountered as a bearing level.
