Types of ground in Noja

In Noja, limestone, dolomite and marble soils predominate, accounting for more than 77% of the substrate. These rock formations offer a high bearing capacity, which allows for the design of shallow foundations directly on rock in most cases. In addition, the compact gravel and sands present in smaller proportions can provide a competent base if rock levels are not reached. The presence of low-permeability formations limits infiltration, although surface aquifers associated with porous layers may exist.

Seismicity in the municipality is very low, with a maximum of 2 events over 30 years and a maximum magnitude of 1.6, which implies a negligible seismic risk for structural design. Given the karstic nature of the limestones and dolomites, it is essential to verify any possible underground cavities before carrying out the foundation, as they could affect ground stability. Since the substrate is not clayey, risks of expansiveness are ruled out, the potential development of karst being the main factor to be considered in geotechnical studies in this area.
