Estudio geotécnico in Navarrete

In the municipality of Navarrete, bedrocks of sandstones, conglomerates and flysch predominate, representing most of the materials, followed to a lesser extent by compact gravels and sands and a very small percentage of gypsum, anhydrite and salts. These materials generally provide good bearing capacity, with stable behaviour suitable for supporting shallow foundations, although local conditions for compaction and possible lithological variations must be taken into account, especially if there are layers that are poorly consolidated or the occasional presence of soluble materials that could increase the risk of dissolution in a minor portion of the area.

Seismicity in Navarrete is high, with 200 events recorded over the last 30 years, although the maximum magnitude (Mmax 4) does not require exceptional measures, it does require consideration in structural design. Although there is a subordinate presence of expansive clays, their location is restricted or associated with areas without water deficit, so the risk associated with expansivity is low but should not be completely disregarded in localised areas. The main constraint for the geotechnical study in Navarrete is therefore monitoring poorly consolidated materials and the accurate structural assessment given the notable frequency of seismic events.
