In Madrigal de las Altas Torres, sandstones, conglomerates and flysch predominate, accompanied in significant proportions by shales and schists, whilst gravel and compacted sands are present only occasionally. These sedimentary materials give the ground a good overall bearing capacity, which favours the selection of shallow foundations. However, the local presence of fine sands and silts indicates that layers of lower strength may occur, although they are not decisive for most of the works.

Seismicity is very low, with only two recorded events in the last 30 years and a maximum magnitude of 2.3, so it does not constitute an essential design constraint for the structural design. There are no karstic soils in the area and, although expansive clays may appear occasionally, they do not dominate the substrate and are located in areas where their impact is moderate.
