In the municipality of Trabada, the dominant subsoil is made up mainly of slates and schists, present across almost the entire area. These materials are known for their low permeability, although they may host shallow aquifers where local alterations occur. From a geotechnical point of view, this composition provides a stable foundation with a load-bearing capacity generally sufficient for ordinary buildings, provided that specific investigations are carried out to identify any potentially fractured or altered zones at depth before defining the appropriate foundation.

Seismicity in Trabada is very low, with only around 2 significant events in the last 30 years and a maximum recorded magnitude of 2.8, so this factor has little influence on structural design. The risk of expansivity is ruled out thanks to the non-clayey nature of the predominant materials. Nevertheless, the possible presence of karst requires careful assessment prior to foundation work, in order to rule out cavities or instabilities that could compromise the safety of the structure. Therefore, verification of karst development is the main geotechnical constraint in this area.
