Types of ground in Leitza

In Leitza, shales and schists predominate as subsoil materials, accompanied occasionally by formations of limestones and dolomites. This composition gives the ground a generally low permeability, although isolated shallow aquifers may exist. The lithological characteristics indicate a good bearing capacity, but it is essential to verify the presence of gypsum and salts, even if they are in small amounts, due to their influence on stability and the possible risk of dissolution.
