Estudio geotécnico in Laudio/Llodio

In Laudio/Llodio, formations of sandstone, conglomerates and flysch predominate, representing more than half of the soils in the area, accompanied by a significant proportion of limestones, dolomites and marbles. These materials generally exhibit good behaviour for foundations, as they provide adequate bearing capacity, although the typical compositional variability of flysch could require detailed studies to identify specific less competent zones. Fine sands and silts are uncommon, but if they are found, they should be assessed in detail due to their lower bearing capacity and possible compressibility. The low permeability of the overall set favours shallow foundations, although it will be necessary to analyse the presence of localised aquifers.

Seismicity in Laudio/Llodio may be considered high, with more than 150 recorded events every 30 years, although the maximum magnitude observed (Mmax 4) is moderate; therefore, structural design must maintain safety criteria against seismic vibrations. No evidence of karstification or expansive clayey materials is identified, which rules out risks both from expansivity and from dissolution of limestones. The main local constraint for geotechnical studies will be the lithological heterogeneity of the flysch and the appropriate characterisation of the competence of each material for foundation purposes.
