Types of ground in Landete

In Landete, substrates of sandstones, conglomerates and flysch predominate, followed by limestones, dolomites and marbles, areas in which the bearing capacity may be suitable for direct foundations, although they can present local variability due to the stratified nature of these materials. It is also relevant that gypsum, anhydrite and salts are occasionally present, introducing a dissolution risk that must be analysed especially in the design of deep foundations and excavations. Levels with deltaic muds and peats, although infrequent, should be avoided as planes of support due to their low strength and high compressibility.

Seismic activity in the municipality is moderate, with 40 events over 30 years and a maximum magnitude (Mmax) of 4.1, meaning that, although it is not the main conditioning factor, it is advisable to review it in sensitive buildings. The non-clayey substrate rules out the risk of expansivity, facilitating the design of stable foundations. Nevertheless, the presence of associated limestones and dolomites linked to karstification requires specific geotechnical checks to rule out cavities and ensure stability before carrying out any foundation, this being the main geological factor to control in Landete.
